From the roaster: This coffee is produced by Birhanu Wote and processed as a separate lot at the Worka Cooperative where Birhanu Wote is a member. The Worka cooperative is located in the southern district of Gedeb in the Gedeo Zone within the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region, Ethiopia. The cooperative was established in 2005 and has approximately 310 members. In 2005, the cooperative joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU), an umbrella organization established 2002 to support a sustainable coffee supply from cooperatives in the Gedeo ethnic region of Ethiopia. There are twenty-six other cooperatives affiliated with the YCFCU totaling more than 45,000 members.
I have been a subscriber since their launch, having been introduced to Better Grounds at a coffee festival. I have enjoyed every monthly selection so far! Their service is a great choice for anyone who, like me, wants easier access great quality coffee and anyone who might feel overwhelmed trying to look into the sourcing bonafides of different brands. I appreciate that they do this work for their clients, and also support different roasters who are doing good work.
