From the Roaster: This Kenyan ‘Muiri Estate {Peaberry}’ is so good - it’s mouthwatering. It has flavor notes of black cherry, grapefruit, allspice, and champagne and a syrupy, dense, body. Its aroma of molasses and dried fig add to the complexity of this coffee, making it comforting and delicious.
If you’ve been with us for a while, you’ll recognize the name, Kenyan ‘Muiri Estate’, a fantastic farm we’ve been supporting for years and the only organic farm that we know of in Kenya. This is the third year we’ve purchased their peaberry offering. Peaberry is a naturally occurring mutation where instead of the typical two seeds (beans) that form inside the coffee cherry, with the flat sides of the seeds facing each other, sometimes just one seed grows inside of the coffee cherry, resulting in one round seed and lots of flavor.
