From the roaster:
This coffee is special. Danche is the highest elevation washing station in Worka Chelbessa, Ethiopia. Chelbessa is one of the largest Kebeles (villages) in the Gedeo, the most southern part of the Gedeo region. This particular area of Ethiopia has been consistently producing spectacular coffees over the past several years. Due to the incredibly high elevation in this area, producers from Gedeo generally do not produce high volumes of coffee. We were able to grab some of this exceptional organic natural processed coffee from the Danche Washing Station.
In 2017 Coffee producer Neguesse Debela, began operating his first site in Work Chelbessa, quickly opening a second washing station in a small sub area of Worka Chelbessa called Danche two years later. The two sites produce immaculate washed and natural processed coffees, while also diving into experimental lots to continue their improvement on quality.
This natural processed, anaerobic fermentation organic Ethiopia from Chelbessa Danche is a gem. It is bursting with notes of lime, honeysuckle and candied fruit in the aroma, leading to strawberry and lime in the flavor. The rich, syrupy mouthfeel ties these notes together into a beautiful natural coffee with layers of fresh fruit.
